Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) of UK announced the 2014 world university rankings by subject. Using data on reputation and research citations, the rankings highlight the 200 top universities in the world for 30 individual subjects. ODTÜ entered in the top 200 university lists in 9 subjects, while İTÜ, İD Bilkent University, Boğaziçi University, İstanbul University and Koç University were included in 5, 3, 1, 1 and 1 subject ranking list(s), respectively (http://www.topuniversities.com/subject-rankings).
ODTÜ is listed among the top 100 universities in 3 subjects (Civil Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Mechanical-Aeronautical-Manufacturing Engineering), top 150 universities in 2 subjects (Education, Statistics-Operations Research), and top 200 universities in 4 subjects (Economics-Econometrics, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science and Information Systems). With the addition of Computer Science and Information Systems, ODTÜ’s representation went up from 8 to 9 subjects in the top 200 university list this year.
ODTÜ Electrical-Electronics Engineering and Mechanical-Aeronautical-Manufacturing Engineering subjects are the only representation from Turkey in the top 100 university lists.

İTÜ is listed among the top 100 universities in 1 subject (Civil Engineering), the top 150 universities in 2 subjects (Chemical Engineering, Materials Sciences), and top 200 universities in 2 subjects (Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Mechanical-Aeronautical-Manufacturing Engineering), while İD Bilkent University is listed among the top 150 universities in 1 subject (Politics) and top 200 universities in 2 subjects (Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Communication and Media Studies), İstanbul University, Boğaziçi University and Koç University found a place with 1 subject each, among the top 200 universities in Communication and Media Studies, Electrical-Electronics Engineering and Politics subjects respectively.
In the 2013 list of QS institution, in addition to ODTÜ and Bilkent Universities which were included in the 431-440 band, Boğaziçi University was included in the 461-470 band and Koç, Sabancı, İTU, Hacettepe, İstanbul and Çukurova universities were included in the 501-700+ range respectively. 2013 list can be reached via http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2013
