Two years of learning, talking, and thinking together

We are celebrating the second year of the "Learn & Connect: 5:40 Lecture Series" with a special gathering focused on METU's shared future.

With only days to go before COP31 opens in Türkiye, we will discuss together the role of universities and campuses in the fight against climate change. The METU Climate Action Plan, prepared with due regard for METU's biodiversity, natural ecosystems, and architectural heritage, is also part of this shared thinking.

At the campus panel titled "METU Climate Action Plan: From Participatory Planning to a Shared Future," to be held on Thursday, 5 November at 5:40 PM in the Kemal Kurdaş Hall of the Culture and Convention Center, we will address how the plan took shape, how METU's constituents took part in this process, and our common goals for the period ahead.

We are marking the second year of our series with this special panel, where we will discuss the METU Climate Action Plan and our campus's shared goals for its climate future.

The panel will feature Prof. Dr. Barış Salihoğlu, Director of the METU Climate Center (İKLİM); Prof. Dr. İpek Gürsel Dino, Department of Architecture; Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülizar Özyurt Tarakcıoğlu, Department of Civil Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Dilşad Yılmazel Tokel, Department of Environmental Engineering; Prof. Dr. Gaye Teksöz, Department of Mathematics and Science Education; and Prof. Dr. Pınar Derin Güre, Department of Economics.

In the "Connect" part of our program, we will give away Ankara Jazz Festival tickets to our students by draw, and celebrate the 2nd anniversary of our "Learn & Connect: 5:40 Lecture Series" in the main foyer with a musical performance by the MGSB Tango Trio and refreshments.
