Dear Members of ODTÜ Community,

Our university has attained yet another remarkable achievement in university rankings. Yesterday (October 1st, 2014 Wednesday), English based Times Higher Education (THE) announced the World University Rankings 2014-2015 and ODTÜ is ranked 85th in the top 400 universities list. Thus, ODTÜ is the first and only Turkish university ranked among the top 100 universities.

ODTÜ was already the first and only university in the top 100 list of World Reputation Rankings in 2012, 2013 and 2014.  As for World University Rankings, it is the assessment in 13 performance indicators grouped into five areas: “Teaching”, “Research”, “Citations”, “Industry Income” and “International Outlook”. The database used in ranking is created in collaboration with Thomson Reuters. ODTÜ has ranked among the top 100 universities this year in general performance, in addition to the reputation ranking.

In the list, California Institute of Technology was the 1st, Harvard was 2nd, Oxford was 3rd in the ranking. In the list of top 100 universities, there are 16 countries other than Turkey.

In the list of “World Universities Rankings”,  total of 6 universities from Turkey has ranked as follows: one university in the top 100; three universities  in the 101-200 band; one in the 201-300 band; and one in the 301-400 band. That is a big honour for our country. Boğaziçi University was 139th, ITU was 165th, Sabancı University was 182nd in the rankings. Furthermore, Bilkent University was in the 201-225 band and Koç University was in the 301-350 band.
