Success of METU in Red Dot Design Ranking 2011

Middle East Technical University (METU) has been ranked among the "Top 15 Design Institutions in the Americas and Europe Region" in the Red Dot Design Ranking 2011 “Design Concept” category.  The countries and number of institutions listed in this ranking are: France (1), Sweden (1), Germany (5), USA (4), UK (2), Norway (1) and Turkey (1). Red Dot Design Awards are given by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen (Essen, Germany) since 1955. Red Dot Design Ranking is one of the best-known and prestigious design award schemes internationally.

Ms. Mehrafza Mirzazad Barijough, a METU Department of Industrial Design alum had won the "Red Dot Award: Design Concept Best of the Best" in 2010 for her graduation project named "emergency transporter unit for amputated body parts". This project which was supported by Kilit Taşı Tasarım Co. on an advisory basis made an important impact on METU's place in the Red Dot Design Ranking. We congratulate Mehrafza once again for her success, and thank Mr. Kunter Şekercioğlu of Kilit Taşı Tasarım for his support on this project.

Congratulations and recognition are also due to the faculty members of METU Industrial Design Department, and other faculty and students who have contributed to the success of our University in the design disciplines.
