AH 543 Anatolian Seljuk Architecture (11-14th Centuries) (3-0)3

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Uzay Peker

Description: This course investigates Seljuk architecture in Anatolia (11-14th c.) in terms of its forms, styles, building types, symbolic meanings, regional cahracteristics, social and political background and landscape.
Objective: This course will promote graduate research on history of architecture in medieval Anatolia and will provide students with an overall view on Seljuk architectural culture in Anatolia.
Learning Outcomes: Students will be acquainted with in depth knowledge on Seljuk architecture and historiography on it.
Grading: Final examination 35%; Term paper 45%; Annotated bibliography 10%; Performance in class discussions and attendance 10%.
