CATALOG COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

Development of basic skills of strokes. Buoyancy floating, cool down, sculling-leg kicks and breathing.Front crawl stroke, back crawl stroke, standing front dive. Breast stroke arm pulling-leg kicks.Treading water.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

 

Upon successful completion of this course, the students should be able to:

 

- develop an interest, appreciation and enjoyment of water activities

-make physical and mental adjustments to the water

-demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to feel comfortable in,on or around the aquatic environment

-demostrate the skills of floating, breathing control,changing direction and position, treading water

-demonstrate basic stroke technique in front crawl, back crawl, and elementary back stroke

-demonstrate deep water entry (feet first and head first entries into the water) and swimming 25 meters

-develop an increased level of physical fitness through participating in a swimming class
