Dr Margaret J-M Sonmez (MA Oxford University,  PhD Durham University)

I have been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Foreign Language Education since 1993.  I teach a variety of courses in the fields of Linguistics and English Literature, and also give elective courses in The History of the Language and The History of Ideas.  The main thread connecting my research is that of how language is and has been used and perceived. My current research centres on the re/presentation of foreigners in British literature.
