This semester we will study 3 classic novels by great authors of the 19th century.  These are

Jane Austen  Pride and Prejudice

Charles Dickens Great Expectations

Thomas Hardy  Jude the Obscure

We will spend 4 weeks on each novel.  You are expected to read the novels as soon as you can, taking notes as you read.  These novels are in the public domain and may be obtained on-line from a number of etext sites, there are also many copies available in the libraries and book shops.
