FLE 215  Advanced Reading and Vocabulary Development

Spring Semester 2008

Instructor:  Assistant Prof Margaret J-M Sonmez

In this course we will study set texts of increasing length and complexity.  Students are provided with the texts and with vocabulary sheets.  Each week the set texts are to be carefully read, the vocabulary and sentence writing sheets for those texts to be completed, and particular idiomatic, rhetorical or grammatical points that are mentioned in class to be viewed.  After the first introductory lesson there will be tests at the start of each class, and the course will be graded through tests, mid term exam, final exam, assessment of their reading and vocabulary sheets  and classroom participation.

Students are expected come to class having completed the assignments and preparation required of them, and always to bring a good monolingual dictionary with them.
