Purpose

Turkey was connected to the Internet in 1993. In its initial stages, only researchers, academicians and university students used it exclusively in the universities. However, it did not take long for the government organizations, private firms and citizens to understand the importance of the Internet. Since then, Internet use, capacity, and geographic scope have expanded dramatically in Turkey. Intense competition and rapid growth characterize the provision of Internet services. In this Web site I will try to find answers to the questions of how big the Turkish Internet is and its growth trends.

How big is it?

According to the current information (by August 2000), in Turkey, there are about 2.000.000 Internet users and more than 20.000 organizations. You can find detailed information in other pages of this site.

How correct is this information?

It is obvious that information here is not granted to be 100% correct. The main reason is because of Internet's chaotic and unpredictable nature. It is advised you to compare the information of this site with other resources.
