The course directly aims
at encouraging the students to take part in an emotion research team and
produce valuble outcomes like a submission of a manuscript to a respectable
journal and participating in an emotion congress with a poster presentation. To
reach this aim students should, first, form a strong background about emotion
studies. This can be done by attending lectures. Secondly, the students should
make integrations about the literature. This can be achieved by three ways
within the scope of this course:
1. Participating in the lectures
with your own ideas
2. Presenting a topic of
interest to the class with your own ideas and making the class to discuss on
the topic and finally writing a manuscript integrating the discussed points
3. Discussions during
poster presentations
Carrying out an empirical
study and having it published, I presume, is the ultimate indicator of a
scholar's academic skills. The course does intend to contribute to the
development of your academic skills. So, you are required
1. to choose a topic of
interest and make a literature survey about it,
2. to develop hypotheses
and a suitable design to test them,
3. to choose a suitable
sample and carry out the empirical study on the sample,
2. to write an APA format
manuscript and submit it to a related journal
3. to present the poster
format of the study in the Department and in an emotion congress
