Who Is Entitled to Take the Exam?

1. ODTÜ KKK’ya yeni kabul edilen lisans öğrencileri.

1. Newly admitted undergraduate METU NCC students.

2. Halen İngilizce Hazırlık Programı’nda eğitim gören ve bu sınava girmeye hak kazanmış öğrenciler.

2. Students currently studying at the School of Foreign Languages who have earned the right to take this exam.

3. İngilizce Hazırlık Programı’nda başarısız olmuş, ancak bu sınava girmeye hak kazanmış öğrenciler.

3. Students who have failed at the School of Foreign Languages but are entitled to take this exam.

 

Başvuru

Registration

Halen İngilizce Hazırlık Programı’nda öğrenim gören öğrenciler ile İngilizce Hazırlık Programı’nda başarısız olmuş, ancak bu sınava girmeye hak kazanmış öğrencilerin kayıt yaptırmalarına gerek yoktur. Ancak, not veya devamsızlık nedeniyle İngilizce Hazırlık Programı ile ilişiği kesilip sınav hakkı bulunan öğrenciler girecekleri her İngilizce Yeterlik Sınavı için başvuru yapmak zorundadırlar.

 

Kayıtlar ÖİDB’a şahsen başvurularak yapılacaktır.

Students who are currently studying at the English Preparatory Program and those who have failed at the English Preparatory Program but are entitled to take this exam do not need to register.  However, students who are dismissed due to grade or attendance, but who are entitled to take the English Proficiency Exam should register for each exam they will take.

The next examination will be held in two stages, on 5 and 7 October 2009.

Contents, Duration, Grading

Sınavın birinci aşaması çoktan seçmeli 70 sorudan oluşmakta ve 2 bölüm içermektedir: Dilbilgisi (40 soru / 20 puan) ve Okuma (30 soru / 30 puan). Bu bölüm sınavın yarısını oluşturmaktadır (50 puan) ve sınav süresi 90 dakikadır.

The first stage of the examination consists of 70 multiple-choice questions in 2 sections: Language Use (40 questions / 20 pts.) and Reading Comprehension (30 questions / 30 pts.). This section of the exam comprises half of the total test (50 pts.) and its duration is 90 minutes.

Sınavın ikinci aşamasına girebilmek için birinci aşamada en az %50 başarı göstermiş olmak (24,50 puan almış olmak) gerekmektedir.

 

In order to qualify for Stage Two of the exam, a test taker must have obtained a minimum of 50% achievement (24.50 pts.) in Stage One.

Sınavın ikinci aşaması 2 bölüm içermektedir: Dinlediğini Anlama (30 puan) ve Yazma (20 puan). Bu bölüm sınavın yarısını oluşturmaktadır (50 puan) ve sınav süresi süresi 110-120 dakikadır.

The second stage of the examination consists of two sections: Listening Comprehension (30 pts.) and Writing (20 pts.). This section of the exam comprises half of the total test (50 pts.) and its duration is 110-120 minutes.

Puanlama 100 üzerinden yapılır.

Grading is out of 100.

Kurallar

Rules

1. Öğrenciler yanlarında ODTÜ KKK tarafından verilmiş resmi kimlik belgesi (ya da eşdeğeri belge), yumuşak kurşun kalem, tükenmez kalem ve silgi bulundurmalıdırlar.

1. Examinees are required to have with them an official ID (or comparable document) issued by METU NCC, a soft pencil, a ball point pen and an eraser.

2. Sınavın 1. aşamasında 30 dakikadan çok geç kalan öğrenciler sınava kabul edilmeyecektir. Sınavın 2. aşamasında sınav başlamadan 30 dakika önce sınav yerinde bulunulması gereklidir.

 

Sınavın DİNLEME kısmı başladıktan sonra sınav salonuna öğrenci alınmayacaktır. Ancak sınavın 2. aşamasına geç kalan öğrenciler DİNLEME kısmı ilk bölümünün ardından verilecek aradan sonra, DİNLEME ve NOT TUTMA ile YAZMA kısmına girebileceklerdir. 

2. Examinees who are more than 30 minutes late for Stage I  of the exam will not be admitted to the exam. Examinees have to be in the exam place 30 minutes before the exam starts.

 

Examinees will not be admitted to the exam after the LISTENING component starts. However, examinees who are late for Stage II can take the LISTENING & NOTE-TAKING and WRITING parts after the first section of the LISTENING component is completed.

3. Öğrenciler sınav süresince sınav gözetmenlerinin isteklerine uymakla yükümlüdürler.

3. Examinees must fully comply with the proctors' directions during the examination.

4. Başkasının yerine sınava girme ya da kopya çekme girişiminde bulnan öğrencilerin sınavları geçersiz sayılacak ve haklarında disiplin işlemi/yasal işlem yapılacaktır.

4. Disciplinary/legal action will be taken against those who attempt to impersonate the rightful examinee or who attempt to cheat, and the examination results of such candidates will be considered invalid.

ODTÜ KKK-İYS’ye herhangi bir nedenle giremeyen adaylar için telafi sınavı uygulanmaz.

 

There is no make-up for METU NCC-EPE.

Passing Grade and
Equivalence with
Other Examinations

Lisans öğrencileri için geçme notu 60’tır.  Buçuklu notlar bir üst nota tamamlanır. Bu kural İngilizce ders muafiyetleri için uygulanmaz.

The passing grade for undergraduate students is 60.The grades are rounded off to the nearest whole number. This rule does not apply to exemptions from English Courses.
