Nihat Ali Isitman obtained his B.S. degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2006. Now, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in the same department where he works as a full-time research assistant. He centered his research on (i) polymer reinforcement at micro- and nano- scales and (ii) fire retardant polymer nanocomposites. He is currently investigating the potentials of functionally filled polymer nanocomposites as novel flame retardant materials. He has been the author or co-author of over 15 scientific papers in peer-reviewed SCI journals. He is a student-member of Society of Plastics Engineers and Materials Research Society.
