Today, within the scope of Faculty Development Program (FDP), over 600 research assistants employed by partnering universities are continuing their PhD studies at METU.
The University demonstrates continuous improvement of performance in research and development areas, which is reflected in the number of international publications, portfolio of scientific and applied research projects, and statistics of industrial cooperations. In terms of the number of international publications, METU is at the top among universities that do not have medical schools. This outstanding performance of our University is valid for social sciences, as well as engineering and natural sciences. Our income from research funds and the industry covers 1/3 of our total annual expenditures including staff salaries. Our research and development capacity as well as our services are expanding each year with the newly added national and international "Centers of Excellence".
METU Northern Cyprus Campus and METU Technopolis are only two of the various projects that we have successfully accomplished in the last decade. METU Northern Cyprus Campus has proven that it provides education at METU standards and has become an exemplary higher education institution. METU Technopolis, the first technology development area in Turkey that hosts more than 260 R&D companies, is among the first 20 technoparks in the world.
Middle East Technical University campuses located in Ankara and Northern Cyprus have won awards of architecture.
