The METU - SFL Curriculum Renewal Project

The Administration of the METU School of Foreign Languages has initiated a Curriculum Renewal Project, which can be considered as the evaluation of the current courses offered by the Department of Basic English and the Department of Modern Languages. The project is based on the fact that change is one of the most pertinent features of organizational life and any change in the environment is reflected in the instruction conducted in an educational institution. The many-faceted nature of the METU Curriculum Renewal Project will enable:

• both DBE and DML to collaborate in their efforts to draw up specific course syllabi and the overall departmental curriculum,

• the SFL to identify its educational policy and define this policy in written form,

• the teachers in DBE and DML to share their expertise and experiences within the framework of the curriculum renewal cycle and thus bring forth innovation.

This project has laid the grounds for the setting up of an SFL Curriculum Unit, which will conduct work on the periodical evaluation of the SFL overall curiculum, which will reflect itself in the departmental syllabi. Due to the fact that the faculty are the main contributers to innovations in departmental syllabi, the SFL administration and the project management invite you to participate in this procedure to feel a sense of ownership of the ultimate curriculum.
Thank you for your support in our effort to offer the best to our students.
